Larry Eugene “Butch” Bilbrey, 75, of Indianapolis, passed away on May 30, 2022 at Franciscan Health Indianapolis Hospital. He was born in Indianapolis, IN on September 23, 1946 to Cecil and Bernice (McGee) Bilbrey. They preceded him in death.
A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Butch attended Warren Central High School where he earned the title of state wrestling champion. He then went on to serve his country in the US Army. Butch was a lifelong member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades Local 47 in Indianapolis and the American Legion Post 0274 in Ft. Myers, FL.
Butch was an avid golfer who routinely played local courses like the Sara Shank Golf Course, The Legends Golf Club and The Fort Golf Resort. He loved to travel to Florida and, as a young man, enjoyed spending winters there. Above all, though, Butch loved spending quality time with his family and large group of friends. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him as an honest, hardworking man who cared deeply for those he loved.
Butch is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Becky (Hoard) Bilbrey; his daughter, Lanie Shackelford of Indianapolis; and his brother-in-law, Danny Hoard of Indianapolis.
A celebration of Butch’s life will be held from 2:00pm-5:00pm on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at O’Gara’s Event Center (524 Main Street, Beech Grove, IN).

Butch was a man who could fix almost anything, and it was never fixed halfway. It was always fixed correctly and that was how He lived his life. We will all miss his sense of humor and infectious smile. We love and miss you, Butch. Danny & Brenda
Just such a fun guy to hang around with. Good spouse, hard working American, wish more were like him. God Bless Miss Becky and family.
So sad to hear that Butch has passed. I know he is with his parents in Heaven. Butch was a great guy and always treated me with respect and I know he was a race fan because several years ago I gave him a picture of Richard Petty that I had taken at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I ask God to comfort his wife, Becky and the family and give them peace through this period of morning. We need to remember all the good times that were had with Butch. He will always be in our hearts. Life on Earth is very short and now Butch has now been reborn in is with Our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. May God bless this family & May God bless Butch’s soul. My deepest sympathy & condolences to the family!
