Carolyn L. (Korbe) Bridgewater, 79, of Indianapolis passed away on October 8, 2016 while surrounded by her family following a brief illness. She was born on July 21, 1937 in Indianapolis to Clarence and Alma (Pennington) Korbe.
A life-long resident of Indianapolis, Carolyn is a graduate of the former St. Mary Academy. She was proud to retire from Ford Motor Company in 1992 where she worked in Human Resources in Hourly Personnel for thirty-six years. She was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Indianapolis.
Carolyn will be remembered for her loving spirit – whether taking care of her family and friends, working with her plants and flowers or feeding the birds that frequented her yard. She enjoyed reading and traveling the globe, with her favorite destination being Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to where she made many trips. She will be terribly missed by those whose lives she touched.
Carolyn is survived by one son, Frank (Lorrie) Bridgewater of Greenwood; one daughter, Michelle (Keith) Allee of Greenwood; and two loving grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of twenty-two years, Frank Bridgewater, Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Greenwood Bible Baptist Church (1461 Sheek Rd, Greenwood, IN) with Pastor Todd Poynter officiating. Friends may call from 11:00am until the time of service. Cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greenwood Bible Baptist Church.
Michelle,
I am so sorry for your loss. It is hard to lose a mother at any age especially after losing your father so young. Praying for you.
Sending prayers and peace to the family of Carolyn Bridgewater! I feel any soul who loved flowers, birds, and nature truly has a place in heaven!
So sorry for your loss Frank. I pray you find comfort and peace in the days ahead.
Dear Michelle and Frankie,
It seems like yesterday when we were all playing together on Orinoco. Time catches up with us. You Mom was always so nice to us and a good friend to my mother. For certain this is one of the toughest times in one’s life. Your Mom is at peace now and I hope you can find peace also during this difficult time. My very sincere condolences.
