Cecil was a very talented mechanic who had a passion for working on cement trucks. He retired from Sagamore Ready Mix after more than 20 years of service. Cecil will be remembered as a very hard worker whose work ethic was unparalleled. He was definitely one-of-a-kind.
He loved his family and was very proud to be able to provide a good life for them. Cecil was a confident man who was not afraid to stand-up for what he thought was right. He was an outdoorsman who loved to deer hunt, fish work in his yard and tend to his garden. More often than not, though, you could find Cecil relaxing on his back porch enjoying a cold beer.
Cecil is survived by a step-daughter, Dottie Sherrow of Lexington, KY; one daughter, Mary Johns of Anderson; four sons, Thomas Johns of Florida, James Johns, William Johns and Gavin Johns all of Anderson; and one great-grandchild (with one on the way!). He will be missed by countless loving family members and very close friends.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Brenda (Lee), who shared his life for more than 40 years.
A celebration of Cecil’s life will be held at a later date.
Cecil Johns was a very close friend for over 35 years. Cecil was the type of friend that was very loyal. You could call him anytime day or night to pull you out of the ditch, and he would be right there. I know my family and I will certainly miss him. Till we meet again Cecil.
Thinking of you dad
