Danny Allen Conley, 77, of Muncie, IN, passed away on September 3, 2023, peacefully at his home from complications of heart and kidney failure.

Danny, a proud Bearcat, graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1964, and enjoyed watching high school basketball throughout the years. A hard worker all his life, he spent many years at the former local Westinghouse plant, moved on to Frito-Lay, then to construction and carpentry, and worked his final years at Tru-Form Steel and Wire in Hartford City, IN, where he was part of a strong family of coworkers.

Throughout his life, Danny always managed to have a good time – playing lots of euchre, tending local bars, playing spoons to jukebox music and for live crowds, pickup basketball games, fishing, bowling, and managed to consistently beat the odds of scratch off lotto tickets.

Married and divorced twice, Danny maintained good relationships with both his first wife Kathy (Copeland), and his second wife Debbie (Law) with whom he remained close until his final days.

Danny dedicated much of his love, attention, and pride to his grandsons, who coined his nickname “Peepaw” which is how many affectionately knew him during the latter part of his life. He became Peepaw to several friends, neighbors, and coworkers, just as he was Uncle Danny to many others.

Danny is survived by his son Jason Conley (wife Nina, children Abbie, Sammie, Morgan and her children), two grandsons Josh Conley (wife Kaylee), Mitchell Conley (wife Laura, son Levi), his stepdaughter Jeni Law, his brother Jerry Conley, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins (Debby Murray and others). He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward “Bear” and Erma (Nickol) Conley, and his brother Eddie Conley (2012). The Dale family and Candelario family were both very special to him.

There will be no formal service. The family will host a gathering in Danny’s memory in the coming weeks.
