David Franklin Prough, 81, of Noblesville, IN died and entered into eternal rest with the Lord Jesus on August 20, 2026, following complications from multiple myeloma. He made an impact with his life and was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be missed every day.

David was born at St. John’s Hospital in Anderson, IN on January 4, 1945 to Dale and Marjorie Prough, as the identical twin to his brother Dan. The two boys were the youngest of five children and grew up on a farm in Alexandria, IN, where they loved shooting basketballs in the barn.

David first met the love of his life, Charlotte (Urban) Prough, in the second grade at Cunningham Elementary School, but it wasn’t until high school when they became official sweethearts. David attended Alexandria High School, where he excelled as an athlete on the football, basketball and baseball teams. In his senior year, David and Dan led the Alexandria Tigers basketball team to a 21-4 record, winning the 1963 Madison County sectional championship and advancing to the Indiana state regionals at Butler Field House.

David and Charlotte were married on May 23, 1964 at the United Methodist Church in Alexandria. Soon afterward they began their family, and their three children, Becky, Todd, and Rosalynn, meant the world to them. David prioritized family togetherness, with much time spent enjoying beaches, mountains and lakes, camping, summer baseball, day trips and county fairs.

David earned his bachelor’s degree in business at Indiana University, where he and Dan received athletic scholarships to play baseball. Upon graduation in 1967, he began his management career in the rental car industry, with his first position at Avis in Louisville, KY, followed by a stint in Cleveland, OH, then 20 years working at major airports in Northern California, including San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose. He returned to Indiana in 1989, settling in Noblesville, where he eventually retired from the Indianapolis Airport.

David was an active member of Harbour Shores Church, and you could often find him early on Sunday mornings attending to the coffee service in his Sunday School classroom or the church kitchen.

Everyone who knew David knew how much he loved sports, a good game of cards, and discovering the next great diner. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren, making it a priority to travel to California for vacations and milestones like graduations and weddings. When grandchildren visited Indiana, he helped hone their card skills, taught them to fish off the lake dock, and took all who were interested to the Indy 500 or Brickyard 400.

David was preceded in death by his cherished daughter Rosalynn Prough and his parents. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; daughter Becky Furtado (John); son Todd Prough (Julie); grandchildren Joshua, Rachel, Mark, Emily, Andrew, Sara, and Katie; and three great-grandchildren, Hayden, Riley, and Giovanna. He is also survived by siblings Nancy Johnson (Bob), John Prough (Karen), Richard Prough, and Dan Prough (Kathy).

Services honoring David’s life, legacy and faith will be held on Friday, Aug. 28 at 1 p.m. at Harbour Shores Church, 8011 E 216th St, Cicero. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rosalynn Prough Memorial Fund at First Love International Ministries, P.O. Box 15836, Loves Park, IL 61132, firstloveinternational.org.
