Diana Lynn (Gerber) Shell, 71, of Elwood, passed away at home on Thursday, July 20, 2023 while surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on November 10, 1951 in Noblesville, IN to Mack and Marian (Wells) Gerber.

Diana attended Lapel High School and worked as a welder for Porter Engineering in Westfield for more than 20 years before retiring. Diana will be lovingly remembered for being incredibly devoted to her family. She was a voracious reader who enjoyed everything from science fiction to cheesy vampire novels to Harlequin Romance stories. She loved to spend time camping, fishing, and making memories with her family at Springmill State Park.

Diana is survived by her life partner, Danny Shell of Elwood; two daughters, Nikki (Tim) Laster of Elwood and Dani (Jason James) Childress of Elwood; one sister, Neva Gerber of Noblesville; two brothers-in-law, Edward Wells of Anderson and Larry Sizemore of Boise, ID; four grandchildren, Alysa Childress, Zac (Elizabeth Vautaw) Childress, Lily (Todd) Brewster, and Adryanna (Jacob Harris) Laster; and two great-grandchildren, Amara Metz and Sunny Metz. Many loving nieces and nephews also survive as does her lifelong best friend, “Cindy Kay”.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Vicki Wells and Debbie Sizemore; and her son-in-law, Everett “Sonny” Childress II.

A celebration of Diana’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the Lapel Lion’s Club (329 Main Street, Lapel, IN 46051).
