Donald Wayne Fugett, 66, of Indianapolis, passed away while surrounded by family on August 23, 2024. He was born on September 19, 1957 in Columbus, OH to Willis and Eileen (Murphy) Fugett. Don grew up in Millersport, Ohio where he graduated from Millersport High School in 1975. He graduated from Taylor University in 1979 with a BA in Theology. He went on to earn his LPN then RN where he worked as a nurse for 40 years, mostly in Home Healthcare. He truly cared about people and will forever be remembered for his big heart.
He is best known for his love for his family. He met his wife, Beverly Ehringer Fugett while they both attended Taylor University. They married in 1980 and just celebrated their 44th anniversary. He loved Bev with a powerful love. He intensely loved his children and committed himself to supporting and loving them in every way. He was excited and thankful for his 8 grandchildren. The last few years he gave the grandkids presents for His birthday.
No words can express how much he loved his church, West Morris Street Free Methodist Church, where he attended 40 years. Over the years he helped with Children’s Sunday School, the nursery, preschool, assisted in the bus ministry, helped with many events, served in Vacation Bible School, and any other area that he could. He most recently served in the Westside New Day Center handing out clothing and food to the neighbors who were in need. His legacy over the last few years has been donating food to the Little Pantry located just outside the church on West Morris Street. It was his special ministry to reach out to people in need.
Don was a man of great faith and a scholar of the scriptures. He spent time nearly every day reading and studying his Bible. He was steadfast in his faith. He and Bev had their dream trip of a lifetime when they took a cruise to Italy, Greece, and Turkey in 2023. They enjoyed many other cruises creating many memories. He shared the love of gardening with his children. There were plants growing wherever there was a spot of sunlight. He enjoyed sharing his plants with others and spending his time caring for them. He loved to pick flowers and bring them into the house for Bev to enjoy.

My heart goes out to my niece and her family. Don was a fine Christian man, good husband, attentive Dad, as well as the best coffee maker ever.
From our college days of working together in the library to our great friendship with Bev and Don over 45 plus years. Don was unfailingly kind and faithful. Thanking God for Don today.
My respect for both Don (Fuzz) as I came to know him and Bev are unmatched. Can’t wait to be reunited to one of my BEST friends of 50 years in Christ’s paradise.
I grew up with Donald in Millersport, Ohio. K-12. I always thought of him as an old soul. He was scholarly, friendly and kind. A most patient person tho’ we were a tight knit bunch and knew how to get his ire up. (Wink, wink). We lost touch after high school but as I read this remembrance it makes me smile to think he led such a fruitful and fulfilling happy life. My condolences to Ruth, Willis and all of his family and friends as I lift you up in prayers of comfort and support.
I to like Betsy Hanby went K-12 at Millersport with Donald graduating with him in 1975. Donald always was such a kind friendly and scholarly person just like Betsy said. I have many things I remember from school but none that stick out more than our senior class trip to Florida. I still laugh to this day thinking of Donald in Fort Lauderdale. My condolences to his family. May God grant him eternal rest.
He told me that story. Many times. Ind if his favorite memories. Thank you for your kind words. Yes, he was an old soul. Even in his youth
Oh My Goodness Tom – That is definitely one of the best stories of young Donald. Made me laugh. I bet Don is snickering as well. 🤗
Don’s quiet, gentle spirit made him a favorite at West Morris Street Free Methodist Church. If the doors were open, Don and Bev would be there. Pastor Don Riggs, who was his pastor at two difference times revered Don and Bev’s high quality abilities and faithfulness to many responsibilities. Don has been a significant contributor in many areas of the churches ministry. He represented what I would call, a man of God!
Thinking of you my dear Ms. Bev🙏 I know how much you loved each other ❤️
Don was a faithful, humble, and devoted servant. He never drew attention to himself, but always brought honor to Jesus in everything he did. It was a privilege to be his pastor for 14 years.
