Edwin A. Ames, 73, of Rushville passed away unexpectedly at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis on December 30, 2016.  He was born on September 19, 1943 in Goodrich, MI to Ellis and Nellie Mae (Hale) Ames.

After graduating from Bendle High School (1962) in Burton, MI, Ed proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a Military Police Officer.  He also earned an Associates Degree in Business from Baker Community College.

A retired bricklayer, Ed was a member of both the Michigan and Indiana Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union locals.  He was also a member of the NRA and supporter of the VFW.

Ed’s selfless spirit will be remembered by all who knew him – he would do anything for a friend and had a big heart.  Helping people gave him a sense of genuine joy.  He was a devoted grandfather who loved to fish and spend quality time with his family.

Mr. Ames is survived by two daughters, Babette (Mark) Faerber of Alpharetta, GA and Nancy (Mike) Shafer of Independence, KY;  two grandsons, Patrick and Sean and a grandhorse, Serenity.  A host of other family members who loved him dearly also survive as does his ex-wife and best friend, Setsuko Ames of Easley, SC.

A celebration of Ed’s life will be held on Saturday, January 7th at 1:00pm at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory (1600 S. State Road 3, Rushville, IN) with Pastor Darryl Cooper officiating.  Friends may call from 11:00am until the time of service.
