James Hiram Muse, Jr., 87, of Perkinsville passed away in his home following an extended illness on March 3, 2016. He was born on May 23, 1928 in Danville, IL to James Muse, Sr and Alma (Gaines) Dean.
He spent many years as a driver for Dieckbrader Trucking and subsequently retired from Carter Express in 2001. He was a member of Teamsters Local 135 in Anderson and served in the Merchant Marines during the World War II era.
A resident of Madison County for more than fifty years, Mr. Muse enjoyed fishing, gardening and classic country music. He will be lovingly remembered for his ability to fix anything with duct tape and the numerous hours that he spent piddling on various projects.
Mr. Muse is survived by three daughters; Shirley (Donnie Edwards) King of Riverwood, Cindy (Rod) McDole of Lapel and Sheila (Ricki) Blackford of Perkinsville; one brother, Frank Muse of Bemidji, MN; one sister, Judith Muse of Bemidji, MN as well as several loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. His beloved dog, Mandy, also survives.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy (Au) Muse; his parents; his step-mother, Thelma Muse; three sons, David Muse, Dennis Muse and Duane Muse; two grandsons, Douglas Muse and Matthew Hosier; one sister, Athalie Williams and two brothers, Bob Williams and Ronald Muse.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the Greenbriar Community Church, 1602 Woodbine Drive in Anderson, IN with Pastor Jeff Blankenship officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00am until the time of the service.
Cremation will follow.
