On March 20th, 2023, Jerry Lee Goforth entered the gates of Heaven following a six-month battle with cancer. He was 66 years old.

Jerry is survived by his beloved fiance, Karen L. Lacy; beloved children, Kindra R. Longfellow (Jeremy) of Selma, Trent A.J. Goforth (Katie) of New Castle, and Madison M. Smith of Muncie; his siblings, James Goforth (Marilyn) of Yorktown, Jason Goforth of Muncie, Janice Fishback (Jimmy) of Parker City, and Joanne Goodwin of Lakeland, Florida; five cherished grandsons, Riley Longfellow, Brant Longfellow, Jereck Longfellow, Ethan Goforth, Austin Goforth, and one cherished granddaughter Harper Goforth. He also left behind ten nieces and nephews, and his K-9 friend Tugg.

Jerry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Noah and Artie (Johnson) Goforth, Mary Lee and James (Merdie) Lynn; parents Arthur and Mary Ruth (Brandon) Goforth, brother John Goforth, nephew John (Buddy) Goforth, niece Kimberly Goforth Lewman, sister-in-law Carolyn (Jason) Goforth, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and his devoted dog Rascal.

Jerry was employed as both a brick mason and a polisher. He worked at Delaware Machine and B & B Tool and Die. He also graduated from CDL Test Services and drove a semi for Walmart.

Jerry was born on November 12th, 1956 in Muncie, Indiana. He was a member of the class of 1976 at Yorktown High School where he played baseball and football. Jerry was an avid fisherman who loved being on or near the water, camping, and nature. One of his talents included building fishing rods. He also loved fast cars, especially his copper 1969 GTX, and enjoyed playing pool in a local league for many years.

A private tribute to Jerry will be held for the family and close friends at a later date. He will be remembered for his engaging smile, his honesty, his great sense of humor, and always having a humorous story and words of wisdom to share.
