Peter Simon, 77, of Indianapolis passed away at Zionsville Meadows on Saturday, April 2, 2016. He was born in Irvington, NJ on June 1, 1938 to William and Julia (Klein) Simon; they precede him in death.
Peter is a 1956 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Elmhurst, IL and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from St. Joseph College (1960) where he was in the Army ROTC program. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Army and honorably served our country for six years. Peter was then signed by the Cincinnati Reds Major League Baseball team as a pitcher, but left that organization to pursue his Master’s Degree. He earned his MBA from Northern Illinois University in 1966.
Peter was a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Indianapolis.
Peter worked for more ten years for the Ford Motor Company before leaving to take a management position at Implex Corp, where he worked for nearly five years. Having an entrepreneurial spirit, Peter went on to co-found the Stalcop Corporation in Thorntown, where he built a very successful business focused on aftermarket automotive parts.
He greatly enjoyed sports and loved cheering for his Chicago teams! He was a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. Peter also enjoyed spending many hours relaxing on the golf course.
Peter is survived by his wife of 48 years, Deborah (Eisenmenger) Simon whom he married in November of 1968. Also surviving are one sister, Julia Lyons of Henderson, NV; three nephews, John (Kathy) Lyons of Des Plaines, IL, James (Betsy) Lyons of Maple Grove, MN and Thomas (Jennifer) Lyons of Houston, TX as well as 9 great-nieces/nephews and 3 great-great nieces/nephews.
A memorial mass will be conducted at 11:00am on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at St. Monica Catholic Church, 6131 Michigan Road, Indianapolis.
