Terrella Jean Eskew, 69, of Anderson was called home to be with the Lord on March 30, 2023. She passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side after a battle with cancer. She was born on October 10, 1953 in Anderson, IN to Daniel and Ethel (Osborne) Etchison.
Terella is a graduate of Anderson High School (1971) and then she pursued employment as a marketing merchandiser in wholesale distribution. She started her career at Cousin’s Jewelers where she earned a management position. She then worked for six years at Marsh Village Pantries before eventually accepting a position at F. McConnell and Sons in New Haven where she worked for fifteen years before retiring.
Terrella owned several local rental properties and was an active member of the Property Management Association. She was also a member of the Professional Women’s Association.
Terrella loved to travel! Over the years she and her husband, Joe, visited the Western United States and had a winter home in Pahrump, NV for a few years. They experienced several cruises – her favorite being to Alaska. They also enjoyed cruising to Hawaii and to the Caribbean. Terrella also enjoyed cooking for family and friends and enjoyed many genres of music. Most of all, she loved cultivating relationships with close friends – many of these spanning over 40+ years.
She touched many lives throughout her lifetime and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her spirit embodied the sentiment expressed in 1 Corinthians 13:4-5: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”
Terrella leaves to cherish her memory a stepson, Glen (Tammy) Bailey and grandsons, Hunter and Camden Bailey; Joshua (Abbey) and their son Easton; granddaughter, Brittany (Austin) Carroll and their son Benton; sister, Jeanetta Graham; and brother, Tony Lee Etchison. Also left to cherish her memory are numerous lifelong friends. She is also survived by one nephew, Kyle Campbell; a niece, Erin (Greg Holford) Campbell; their sons, Dylan and Brendan; and numerous cousins. Alice, Gary, and Jonathan Roberts of Brookville especially deserve recognition as they selflessly assisted with the hospice care of Terrella.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Joe Bailey; her parents, Daniel and Ethel Etchison; her sister, Yolanda Campbell-Hardy; and a brother Tracy Etchison.
Those who knew Terrella know she would rather give than receive. In lieu of funeral services and to honor both Terrella’s compassion/character and memory, we ask that all who wish to participate make a donation to either St. Jude’s Hospital for Children or the Riley Children’s Foundation.
A special thanks to Dr. David Mares and to the staff of Southern Care Hospice for their great care in our time of need. You made her remaining time as happy and as comfortable as it could be.
