Rex Aaron Higgins, 68, passed away peacefully in his home in Fishers, IN on February 10, 2019. Preceding him in death were his parents, Morton and Margaret (Cline) Higgins and his sister, Lynn Lawson.
Rex was a graduate of Southport High School, Ball State University and was an Army Reservist. Although an art major in college, Rex had an entrepreneurial spirit. He was the owner of Ace Appliance Parts and Service in Bloomington, IN for more than 20 years.
Rex was a creative artist in many mediums: sculpture, painting, mixed media, and digital photography. He had a love of music whether it be in singing and playing the guitar with his friends, or just listening and sharing new tunes with others. Rex loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends at his home of 38 years on Lake Monroe enjoying the peacefulness and surrounding beauty that it provided.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 45 years, Krystal Higgins, his daughter Kody Higgins of Portland Oregon, his son Ross Higgins of New York, NY and his sister Tina (Dan) Nohe of Bargersville, IN.
Rex was a member of Sherwood Oaks Church and volunteered in his community. In his memory, we ask that instead of flowers that you pay forward that “giving back” spirit….reaching out to others in need, visiting a sick friend, volunteering in your community, or donating to Hospice, Parkinson’s or a favorite charity. That would make him smile.
A “Celebration of Life” service will be announced at a later date.
We are so sorry. Rex was a truly kind spirit. Whenever he went, fun followed.
